What is Breathwork?

Our breath is an ever-present resource - it is with you every day. When you consciously connect to your breath, it becomes a powerful tool for transformation. 

Therapeutic Breathwork uses a conscious, connected, circular breath to tap into deep healing. In this type of Breathwork, you will be coached to use a specific breath pattern, combined with the support of music and possible touch while I gently support you. 

This type of conscious, connected breath allows you to release patterns or energy that are stored in your tissue. It is a somatic practice that can release trauma and unprocessed emotions, connect with deeper self-love, and integrate healing. 

Sessions are never the same. You may feel like you are traveling to a state of non-ordinary consciousness, or you might feel mostly relaxed and calm. Whatever shows up, it is an opportunity to be with yourself in a safe, supported container, with the ultimate goal of healing, knowing and loving yourself more deeply.

Who is Therapeutic Breathwork for?

I believe this practice benefits everyone.* I find it is most beneficial for people who are on a healing journey and are looking for more. Perhaps talk therapy isn’t feeling as effective, or you want to explore a somatic access point. 

* This practice is not suitable for individuals with certain medical conditions, including but not limited to, cardiovascular diseases, high blood pressure, epilepsy, and untreated mental health disorders.   

Breathwork Offerings

Private Sessions

Private 90-minute sessions generally include 15 minutes of connecting to begin, 60 minutes of active breathwork practice and 15 minutes of post-practice support. You will breathe using the conscious connected breath technique. My goal is for you to feel as safe, comfortable and relaxed as possible during the breath practice. We will utilize a mat for lying down, blankets, other props, and music to set the space. I am there to hold the space, as well as providing guidance and physical support (if desired).  

During the breathwork practice, you can expect anything from deep relaxation to physical, emotional, and psychological experiences. These experiences can vary among individuals and may include tingling of extremities, altered states of consciousness, emotional release, or the surfacing of traumatic memories. Every experience is unique. Breathwork Sessions are available both in person in Cape Elizabeth, Maine, and virtually on zoom.

Group Breathwork Circles

What you can expect in a group session:

The individual experience you have in a group session may be very similar to a private session. Often there is a guided meditation to begin, 45-60 minutes of active breathwork practice, and a sharing circle to close (you’re not required to share). Most groups include up to 15 people, set up with mats and props as needed.
