Community Plant Practice

  • Good Medicine Collective 231 York Street Portland, ME, 04102 United States (map)

Join Good Medicine Collective members Tessy Seward and Ginny Gill for a quarterly series designed to deepen our familiarity and relationship with local medicinal plants. Explore the identities and traditional uses of these plants while connecting with them in teas, tinctures and essential oils. Tessy and Ginny will guide movement, meditation and breathwork practices carefully chosen to complement the cylcle of the seasons and the energetics of each plant.

AUTUMN Offering: Tuesday October 14th, 6-8:30 pm, MUGWORT (Artemesia vulgaris)

Mugwort is an herb of medicine women, the wombspace, and the silvery light of the moon. Mugwort’s magic touches something very old and wise within us. It illuminates ways of sensing, knowing and healing beyond our conscious understanding. This green guardian of the dreamworld meets us in the most ordinary landscapes, growing abundantly along roadsides and presenting to the untrained eye as an opportunistic weed. Yet this humble plant holds the keys to traveling vast unseen realms. She accompanies us across thresholds, supports healing and repair, and invites us into deeper relationship with the many worlds beyond the known and familiar.

As we ease into the season of autumn, we’ll circle with Mugwort in Community Plant Practice. We will share mythology and herbal lore, enjoy delicious mugwort tea, practice a yoga kriya for opening the third eye chakra and invite a deepening of the liminal state with conscious, connected breathwork.

Join us Tuesday October 14th, 6-8:30 pm to learn more about the history, properties and energetic signature of Mugwort.

Tessy will lead the yoga kriya and Ginny will guide us in a conscious connected breathwork practice offered to enhance our meeting with this plant ally.
